Valenzuela & Hovey Combine on 3-Hit Shutout & Strike Out 5 in Ayala’s 6-0 Palomares League Clinching Victory Over Bonita

Ayala officially secured an outright Palomares League championship with Thursday’s 6-0 victory over their visitors from Bonita.

Jaden Valenzuela went three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.

Valenzuela walked two and fanned a pair of Bearcats.

Hayden Hovey provided four scoreless innings in relief and surrendered two hits.

Hovey didn’t issue a walk and registered three strikeouts.

The Bulldogs’ duo combined to throw 56 strikes in 86 pitches.

Cody White had two of Bonita’s three hits, and Drew Apodaca had the other.

Ayala roughed up Daniel Nageer for six runs (three earned) on eight hits over five innings.

Nageer hit a pair of Bulldogs, walked two and fanned three.

Adam Raab provided a scoreless and hitless inning in relief.

Valenzuela helped his own cause going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Valenzuela drove in one run on a sac fly in the third inning, and he doubled in a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Caleb Trugman singled in a run in the third to give AHS a 3-0 lead, and he scored twice.

Elijah Duarte singled twice and scored.

Eric Hernandez and Aiden Granados singled and scored one run apiece.

Codey Brown walked and scored.

Aidan Erlandsen singled and was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.

Up next: Both programs end their regular season on Saturday at noon in La Verne.
