LOHS Claims 9-4 Victory at Damien & Takes Over First Place in Baseline League; Grizzlies Have Won Five Straight Games

Twelve days ago, Los Osos had just suffered a three-game sweep at the hands of Rancho Cucamonga.

The Grizzlies were 3-3 and they trailed the Cougars (6-0) by three games.

Fast forward 12 days, and LOHS now stands alone atop the Baseline League standings, including a one-game lead over RCHS.

Since that third loss, Los Osos has gone 5-0 and Rancho Cucamonga has gone 1-4.

Two days after a one-run victory over visiting Damien, the Grizzlies cruised to a 9-4 victory in La Verne.

They had a 9-0 lead before the Spartans scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh.

Jordan Mejico went 5 2/3 innings, and he was charged with three runs on six hits.

Mejico walked three and fanned four.

Zenen Pena got the final four outs, and he allowed one run on two hits.

Pena walked and struck out one batter.

Max Ewers was the Damien offense on Wednesday.

Ewers hit a three-run HR in the sixth, and he singled in a run in the seventh.

Brady Bickham drew a pair of walks, singled and scored twice.

Bobby Logue singled and scored.

Gino Tarzia, Russell Del Castillo, Olives Hines and Michael Mansour had one single apiece for DHS.

Andrew Torres was saddled with the loss after surrendering seven runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Torres issued a pair of walks and registered four strikeouts.

Four Damien pitchers combined to walk five and hit four LOHS batters.

Wyatt Mohler went 2-for-4 with two runs, and that included an RBI single in the third and an RBI double in the six-run fifth inning.

Justin Yeutter was hit by pitch, had a two-run single, doubled and scored a pair of runs.

Reagan Samples went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Roberto Topete drew two walks, scored and had one RBI.

Hunter Meyer walked and singled.

Sean Brian was hit by pitch, walked and scored.

Daniel Lopez was hit by pitch and scored.

John Flores went 1-for-3 with a walk, run and one RBI.

Josh Chairez had an RBI single in the third.
