Baseball:
Bonita secured a 6-0 victory at Glendora on Thursday to improve to 10-1 in Palomares League play.
With four games to play, the Bearcats trail first place Ayala by one game.
GHS hasn’t defeated BHS in baseball since 2018.
And while a 6-0 game shouldn’t have much drama, it did.
After some chirping, Daniel Nageer, who was three outs away from a potential shutout, hit Aidan Yamazaki for the second time, and he was tossed from the game.
Nageer scattered four hits, walked one and struck out nine Tartans.
Andrew Sanchez replaced Nageer with runners on first and second and no outs.
However, the two-sport BHS star, got a pair of ground outs, including a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.
Aaron Jacobsen, Kai Zeits, Daniel Conness and Jackson Glaze had one hit apiece for Glendora.
Jacobsen went four innings, and only one of the four runs he was charged with was earned.
The Westmont College commit allowed six hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out one.
Bonita got to Nick Gonzalez for two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk over 1 1/3 innings.
Kevin Mitchell and Sebastian Lawrence combined to go the final 1 2/3 innings without allowing a run.
Cody White walked, singled twice and scored.
Joaquin Covarrubias went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs and one RBI.
Landen Lambert tripled in a run.
Andrew Sanchez and Dominic Garcia singled and scored one run apiece.
Judah Reeve walked and singled.
Brady Horn had an RBI ground out and Josh Angely scored once for the Bearcats.
