Baseball:
What a difference five days has made for the Los Osos baseball program.
Last week, the Grizzlies dropped a three-game series to Rancho Cucamonga and found themselves three games out of first place.
However, thanks to a pair of wins over Upland, and help from Etiwanda and Chino Hills, LOHS is just one-game out of first place in the Baseline League standings.
Joe Aguilar got the loss after surrendering four runs on eight hits over three innings.
Aguilar didn’t issue a walk and struck out one LOHS batter.
Roberto Topete went 4-for-4, including a double and three runs.
Wyatt Mohler walked, singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in one.
Hunter Meyer went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and one RBI.
Reagan Samples walked, singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Josh Chairez singled and scored.
Justin Yeutter went 2-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Sean Brian and John Flores had RBI singles.
Jordan Mejico went five innings, and he allowed one run on five hits to earn the win.
Mejico walked one and fanned one UHS batter.
Carson Kinnick and Darien Maung had two hits apiece and accounted for half of Upland’s offense.
Maung scored once.
Eli Cervantes singled and scored.
Julian Zambrano drew three walks, scored and had one RBI.
Ryan May and Andres Mata had one hit apiece for the Highlanders.
