Baseball:
Ayala inched one step closer to what it hopes will be an outright Palomares League championship.
The Bulldogs cruised to a 11-2 victory over their visitors from Claremont in the first of a three-game series.
Through the first 10 league games, AHS is 10-0 and they’ve outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 111-12.
Caleb Trugman went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits to earn the win.
Trugman did not issue a walk, and he registered nine strikeouts.
Isaac Huver got the final six outs, allowing three hits and striking out a pair of CHS batters.
Ramzey Farah singled twice and scored.
Cory Smykla had a pair of singled himself.
Aiden Leslie went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Thomas Plotkin and Aaron Banfield singled, and Luke Porras scored one run.
Banfield was stuck with the loss after surrendering six runs (five earned) on eight hits over five innings.
Banfield walked a pair and struck out five AHS batters.
Jonah Boyd singled, doubled, tripled, scored three times and drove in one.
Jaden Valenzuela had three singles and scored a pair of runs.
Aidan Erlandsen tripled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Thomas Estepa doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Dylan Wood went 1-for-4 with two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Aiden Granados singled twice, scored and drove in one run.
Elijah Duarte drew a pair of walks, singled, scored, and drove in two runs, including one via sac fly.
