Baseball:
Apparently, a week off didn’t bother the Ayala baseball program at all.
Seven days after securing game three and a three-game sweep over Diamond Bar, the Bulldogs crushed visiting Ocean View, 15-6, on Saturday.
AHS takes a seven-game win streak into the final two weeks of the regular season.
The Bulldogs out-hit the Seahawks, 17-7, and that included a 3-0 edge in extra-base hits.
The AHS pitching staff worked by committee.
Caleb Trugman was credited with the win.
Trugman went one inning and allowed one run on two hits.
Trugman didn’t issue a walk and registered one strikeout.
Isaac Huver (2IP), Hayden Hovey (1) and Aiden Cosico (1) combined to provide four scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
The Ayala trio didn’t walk a single batter, and they fanned a pair of OVHS players.
Zeke Case and Mateo Rodriguez singled and scored one run apiece.
JT Lewis drew a pair of walks, singled, scored twice and drove in two runs.
Evan Simonds singled twice and scored.
Blake Von Eps walked and scored.
Sam Arredondo went 1-for-3 with a walk and one RBI.
Ayala scored five runs apiece off the first three Seahawks’ pitchers.
Case was charged with the loss after surrendering five runs (one earned) on three hits over one inning.
Zeke Saldana was roughed up for five runs on six hits in one inning as well.
And Arredondo went one inning, and he was saddled with five runs (two earned) on three hits and a pair of walks.
Dylan Wood went 2-for-3 with a run and four RBIs.
Aidan Erlandsen singled three times and scored three runs.
Jaden Valenzuela singled, tripled and scored a pair of runs.
Jonah Boyd went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs.
Codey Brown drew a pair of walks, singled and scored two runs.
Easton Sarmiento went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Trugman singled, tripled, scored and drove in a game-high four RBIs.
Elijah Duarte walked, singled, scored twice and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Thomas Estepa had one RBI on a sac fly.
Brody Gomez and Eric Hernandez had one hit apiece in Saturday’s win.
