Baseball:
Chino Hills made a solid step forward this week.
After being swept by Los Osos in week one of Baseline League play, the Huskies secured its series with Etiwanda, 2-1.
CHHS scored four times in the bottom of the fifth and then held on for a 5-4 victory over the visiting Eagles.
Aydan Maxson got the win after going six innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits.
Maxson issued four walks and registered nine strikeouts.
Brody Buoncristiani was credited with the save after going the seventh inning, and he was charged with one run on one hit and two walks.
Buoncristiani got two of his three outs via strikeout.
Ryan Severns walked, singled and scored.
Josh Adams went 1-for-3 with a walk, run and one RBI.
Jaeden Toki and LJ Roellig walked and scored one run apiece.
Frank Gonzales had one hit for the Eagles.
Luke Mendoza walked and had an RBI single in the three-run first inning.
Derick Kim walked and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Nico Hamilton went 4 1/3, and he was charged with five runs (four earned) on four hits.
Hamilton walked three and struck out one.
Jaxson Milius provided 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.
Milius allowed three hits and walked one CHHS batter.
Matt Mendez had a pair of doubles.
Jackson Aguayo walked and had an RBI single.
Josh Mendez had an RBI single and scored.
Frankie Brazil went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Branden Kim drew a pair of walks and scored two runs, including one on a wild pitch.
Anthony Medyn and Brody Buoncristiani singled and Jacob Jimenez scored once in Friday’s win.
