College Baseball:
With an 11-4 victory over their visitors from Pasadena City College, and with some help from Rio Hondo, the Mt. SAC baseball program secured at least a share of the South Coast Conference title on Thursday.
With four games to play, the Mounties lead the Falcons by four games.
Four runs in the bottom of the sixth turned a three-run advantage into a 9-2 lead.
Hudson Castillo went 6 2/3 innings to earn the win, and he was charged with three runs (two earned) on six hits.
Castillo walked one and struck out four Lancers.
Joey Peralta got the final seven outs, and he surrendered one run on two hits.
Peralta did not issue a walk and registered a pair of strikeouts.
Former La Salle and Arcadia sluggers, Evan Nahra and Devon Eskridge, respectively, hit solo HR’s for PCC.
Bryan Richman had a pair of singles.
Isaac Ton and Devin Munoz singled and scored one run apiece.
Omar Cisneros had an RBI ground out.
Joaquin Salcedo had an RBI single, and Adrian Roman went 1-for-4.
Hugo Tafoya got the loss after surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Tafoya walked five and struck out three Mounties.
Tyler Stull had a three-run double and drove in a fourth run on a sac fly.
Ty Thomas went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Diego Ortiz singled, doubled and scored.
Bryan Bradshaw went 1-for-2 with two walks, three runs and an RBI.
Landon White walked, singled, scored and drove in a run.
Miguel Perez went 2-for-4 with a walk and one run scored.
Cole Nachreiner singled, scored a pair of runs and drove in one.
Jackson Giacone went 1-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
