Baseball:

Monrovia won its ninth consecutive game on Thursday.

The Wildcats edged their visitors from Temple City, 3-2, to remain atop the Rio Hondo League standings.

MHS scored once in the first and seventh innings.

TCHS had evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the seventh.

However, Monrovia answered in the bottom half of the seventh by scoring on a Rams’ error.

Alex Myers went 6 1/3 innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits.

Myers walked one and fanned four.

Sutton Powers got the final two outs, including one via strikeouts.

Jack Scanlan collected half of Temple City’s four hits.

Tyler Womack went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Parker Thomas walked and singled.

Scanlan got the loss after surrendering two runs (one earned) on six hits over six innings.

Scanlan walked five and struck out five TCHS batters.

Sully Zinn went 3-for-3 with a double.

Tristan Oandasan singled and doubled.

Troy Grise drew a pair of walks and scored.

Josh Griffiths drove in a run on a sac fly in the bottom of the first inning.

Julian Fernandez walked and scored.

Braydon Blackmore walked and singled.
