Baseball:
Rancho Cucamonga opened the Baseline League portion of their schedule with a comfortable 7-1 victory over their visitors from Upland.
RCHS jumped on Upland with two in the first inning, two in the third, and for all intents and purposes, the Cougars put the game on ice with three runs in the fourth.
Rancho Cucamonga has won eight of their last nine games.
Brock Foulds went six scoreless innings and scattered four hits to earn the win.
Foulds didn’t issue a walk and registered 10 strikeouts.
Grant Thomas surrendered one run on three hits in the seventh.
Elliot Cresap and Julian Zambrano both went 2-for-3 and accounted for four of the Highlanders seven hits.
Eli Cervantes had an RBI ground out in the top of the seventh inning to get Upland on the board.
Tommy Lopez, Dom Nava and Carson Kinnick had one single apiece for UHS.
Max Biddle was charged with four runs on four hits over three innings.
Biddle walked two and fanned a pair of Cougars.
RCHS got to Joe Aguilar for three runs (two earned) on five hits over two innings.
Foulds helped his own cause with a single, double and one run.
Beau Briggs had a pair of doubles, one run and two RBIs.
Jose Gomez went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs.
Jacob Peyton walked and scored a pair of runs.
Jared Sclafani went 2-for-3 and drove in two.
Grant Thomas walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
