Baseball:
It took Maranatha 36 days longer to get victory No. 1 in 2025 than it did in 2024.
In fact, the Minutemen opened last season with seven wins in their first eight games.
But don’t overread that stat.
They’ve played a tough schedule and Mother Nature hasn’t helped the cause at all.
On Tuesday evening, MHS cruised to a 13-3 victory over Hart at Brookside Park.
Zach Strickland went five scoreless innings and allowed two hits to earn the win.
Strickland walked one and fanned eight HHS batters.
Jacob Yun was charged with three runs on two hits over the sixth and seventh innings.
Yun issued three walks and registered one strikeout.
Brady Werther doubled and drove in two runs for the Hawks.
Dominic Miraglia walked, singled and scored.
Ryder Frithsmith went 1-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Mason Cummings got the loss after surrendering six runs (five earned) on four hits over four innings.
Cummings walked one and fanned a pair of MHS batters.
Trevor Rivas walked, singled, scored and drove in three runs.
Josh Proctor went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Strickland helped his own cause by drawing a pair of walks, singling, scoring twice and driving in one run.
Matthew Kurkdjian went 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Yahir Treto singled and scored.
Quinn Imasaki scored and had one RBI.
