Diamond Bar Outlasts Bonita, 73-66, in Palomares League Opener; Tyler West Scored 20 Points for Brahmas

Boys Basketball:

Bonita dug itself a 15-point hole at the half in Thursday’s Palomares League opener at Diamond Bar.

The Bearcats outscored the Brahmas 49-41, but DBHS would hold on for a 73-66 victory.

Bonita had a 10-9 advantage in 3-pointers made.

Tyler West led Diamond Bar with 20 points and Jedison Chow had 16 in the win.

West and Chow combined to go 16-for-19 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Max Gao chipped in with 17 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

James Kim scored 16 of his game-high 26 points during Bonita’s second-half run.

Hunter Smith hit three 3’s and he finished with 14 points.

Carson Zylstra also had 14 for the Bearcats, and he led all players with four 3-pointers.

Zylstra (11) and Smith (10) combined for 21 second-half points.

Up next: The Bearcats will face Norco on Dec. 26th in the first round of the Damien Classic.

The tip is set for 8:30.
