Girls Basketball:
Glendora had one of its poorest shooting efforts of the year.
But when push came to shove, the Tartans pulled away in the second half and they secured a 44-33 victory at Ayala in the Palomares League opener for both programs.
GHS and AHS combined for just nine first-quarter points.
In the second half, though, Glendora went on a 24-14 run and they improved to 9-2.
All five Tartans scored at least four points apiece during the second-half surge.
Brianna Gomez scored a game-high 16 points.
Mia Reyes chipped in with 11 points and Milana Luera contributed nine points in the win.
Reyes hit three 3-pointers.
Rachel Chen led Ayala with 15 points.
Addie Gonzalez scored all nine of her points from beyond the 3-point line.
Up next: The Tartans travel to Irvine to battle Beckman today at 6:30, while the Bulldogs host Murrieta Mesa at 5:30.
