Football:
It had been 41 days since the Citrus College football program had won a game on the field.
Technically, an October 19th forfeit victory over SBVC counts as a win.
But on the field, the Owls had fallen to Mt. SAC (41-20), Golden West (45-7) and Cerritos (33-24) by a combined margin of 119-51 as they headed to East Los Angeles College.
And Citrus actually trailed, 10-3, in the second quarter against the last-place Huskies.
But the Owls would close out the win on a 35-0 run.
Citrus had solid advantages in total offense (445-180), first downs (30-13), rushing (210-19) and passing (235-161).
Jake Denerson picked up his first college win, completing 19-of-29 for 235 yards.
Denerson threw a pair of TD passes and his first interception.
He tossed a 27-yard TD pass to Joseph Enriquez, and a 20-yard scoring strike to Sean Persson.
Denerson also had a 2-yard TD run.
Jamahl Wilson carried the ball 22 times for 132 yards, which included a 6-yard TD run.
Hakim Haliburton had an 11-yard TD run, and he finished with 12 carries for 63 yards.
Persson had four receptions for a game-best 79 receiving yards, including one score.
Ridge Christlieb totaled four receptions for 61 yards, and Enriquez contributed three catches for 38 yards and one TD.
Hunter Corbin led the Owls defense with 10 tackles, while Jordan Garcia and Matt Casey had five tackles and one sack each.
Up next: Citrus will host Orange Coast College next Saturday at 1.
