College Football:
Chaffey opened American-Metro Conference play with a 46-14 thumping over their hosts from West LA.
The Panthers had advantages in first downs (19-13), total offense (362-207) and passing yards (215-65).
Julian Viramontes completed 10-of-18 for 140 yards.
Viramontes tossed three TD passes and one pick.
He connected with Corey Cabriales on a pair of 28-yard TDs, and Viramontes hooked up with Christian Bozeman on a 16-yard score.
William Harper got some action, and he went 3-of-4 for 75 yards.
Harper found Brennan White for a 54-yard TD in the fourth quarter, and he also had a 5-yard TD run.
Harper was intercepted once.
Cabriales had three receptions for 76 yards and the two scores.
And the Chaffey sophomore returned a punt 35 yards for another TD.
White caught two passes for 58 yards.
Alapaki Paiva had a game-high 63 yards on four carries, including a 31-yard TD run.
Bozeman carried the ball nine times for 40 yards.
Nicolas Uscategui Guerra (6), Jeremiah Burchette (5) and Angel Torres (5) combined for 16 tackles to lead the Panthers defense.
West LA’s Jackson Dadich completed 5-of-15 for 65 yards.
Dadich had 4-and-31-yard TD passes to Marlan Wilson and Conan Hinckley, respectively.
Hinckley caught four passes for 61 yards.
Javaun Lewis led West LA with 51 yards on 17 carries.
Wilson carried the ball seven times for 38 yards.
Justin Ross and Makyi Douglas had the two picks for the Wildcats.
Up next: The Panthers are scheduled to host College of the Desert on Saturday at 6.
COD (1-5, 1-0) secured their first win of the season with a 28-8 victory over Compton.
