Their hosts from PCC, however, scored the next 49 points, and the Lancers cruised to a 56-14 victory.

PCC had a 430-212 advantage in total offense.

And that included a 205-99 edge on the ground and a margin of 225-113 through the air.

Up next: The Lancers will host Desert next Saturday at 6.

The Roadrunners had their week-one game against Glendale postponed due to excessive heat.

And last night, Desert fell, 24-10, at Santa Monica.

Quotable:

Chaffey coach, Ben Buys: I’m happy for our guys to come out with a win today. We’ve had a lot of adversity in last couple weeks with missing five days of practice because of the fire and heat. There is still a lot of room for growth, but we’re seeing a tenacious group of young men that are excited about the process. We had a slow start, but once we got our footing, we played good football. Julian Viramontes threw for five TD’s and our group of backs contributed almost 190 yards. After the first score, our defense got after it, and they didn’t allow a point after the second quarter. We had a bunch of turnovers and sacks.”
