Football:
It’s one thing to know what San Dimas is going to do with the football.
It’s a completely different thing to stop it.
For the longest time, SDHS’ success has revolved around a run-heavy offense, which also allows them to control the time of possession battle almost every Friday night.
And such was the case on Friday night.
San Dimas rushed for 435 yards and cruised to a 49-14 victory at Burbank in the 2024 season opener for both programs.
The Saints led 28-14 at the half and they closed out the win on a 21-0 run in the second half.
Julian Vigil carried the ball eight times for 158 yards.
And that included four TD’s.
Vigil also had a 20-yard reception.
Caleb Morquecho rushed for 135 yards, scored a pair of TD’s, and he caught one pass for 18 yards.
Brandon Meredith had an effective night leading the SDHS offense.
Meredith completed 7-of-8 for 160 yards and one TD.
Tristan Fierro gained 71 yards on six carries, and he caught one pass for 45 yards.
Jeremiah Gibson Fernandez had a 45-yard reception of his own.
Jacob Gallegos had two receptions for 24 yards.
Up next: The Saints will host Pasadena on Friday at 7.
The Bulldogs (0-1) fell, 24-14, to Cantwell Sacred Heart in their season opener.
