Bishop Amat seemed to dominate in every way possible on Thursday night.
The Lancers cruised to a 49-6 victory over their visitors from West Covina in the season opener for both programs.
Amat scored the game’s first 21 points and the last 29.
They had a 420-80 advantage in total offense.
Frankie Villalbrazo completed 13 of 21 for 168 yards and two scores.
Villalbrazo also had a 6-yard TD run.
Ryan Salcedo carried the ball 17 times for 192 yards, including TD runs of 60 and 2 yards.
Andrew Benavidez had a 15-yard TD run and gained 31 yards on three carries.
Jerry Rojo had three catches for 65 yards, which included TD receptions of 19 and 21 yards.
The Lancers had 21 first downs as compared to eight for the Bulldogs.
Chris Perez completed 1-of-8 pass attempts for 33 yards, and he was picked once by the Amat defense.
Matt Ramos had the 33-yard reception.
Zander Requena led the West Covina ground game with 46 yards on 18 carries.
Requena’s 5-yard TD run in the second quarter pulled the Bulldogs to within 21-6 of the Lancers.
The only stat in West Covina’s favor was in the discipline department.
WCHS was flagged four times for 16 yards, and BAHS was backed up 66 yards because of seven penalties.
Up next: The Bulldogs will host Los Altos next Friday.
