Baseball:
The California Outlaws wrapped up second place in the inaugural regular season of the Baseball Census Collegiate Summer League.
The top four programs in the six-team BCCSL qualify for Sunday’s postseason play.
On Wednesday, the Outlaws scored twice in the bottom of the first and third innings, and they cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Arroyo Seco Royals.
Zach Romero was credited with the win after going two scoreless innings and allowing two hits.
Romero walked one ASR batter.
JL Goldman tripled and scored.
Aden Laureano was hit by pitch, singled and stole a base.
Keedan Nadeau and Alejandro Decreux singled for the Royals.
Patrick Fregoso walked and had an RBI.
Matt Garcia was charged with the loss after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits over three innings.
Garcia issued one walk and struck out four Outlaws.
Seth Reker went 2-for-3 with a double, run and two RBIs.
Jason Del Villar singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Nate Perry walked, singled and scored.
Austin Easter went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Jared Benash, Marcus Moyer and Vito Fowler had one single apiece for the Outlaws.
