Baseball:
Arcadia saw its remarkable 2024 season come to an end on Tuesday.
The Apaches fell at Hart, 7-2, in the semifinal round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs.
Arcadia pitching hit six Indians’ batters.
Fernando Palencia got the loss after allowing six runs (three earned) on three hits over four innings.
Palencia issued three walks and fanned a pair of Hart batters.
Gus Cooper went two hitless innings in relief for Arcadia.
Cooper allowed one unearned run, walked one and struck out one HHS batter.
Jaiden Chathle walked, scored twice and his RBI single in the bottom of the second tied the game at 1-1.
Michael Hogan singled and scored.
Eddie Gutierrez was hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
Brayden Jefferis and Brady Werther walked, and both drove in one run apiece on sac flies.
Taj Brar walked and singled.
Hayden Rhodes was hit by pitch twice and scored two runs.
Ryder Fritsmith drove in a run on a sac fly.
Carson Maymo earned the win after going 5 2/3 innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits.
Maymo walked one and struck out four AHS batters.
Ian Edwards provided 1 2/3 hitless and scoreless innings in relief.
Edwards didn’t issue a walk and struck out two.
Leo Peniche and Jerry Carlos both drove in one run apiece on a sac fly.
Palencia singled and scored.
Maverick Silva and Aaron Prieto had one hit each for the Apaches.
Keyonn Chatman reached base on an error, and scored on Peniche’s third inning sac fly that gave AHS a 2-1 lead.
Arcadia retained its spot in the Pacific League penthouse as they’ve done since 2019.
Of the 29 baseball programs this site covers, their 22 wins ties AHS with Maranatha for second place.
San Dimas had an area-best 25 wins in 2024.
