Chino Hills earned its spot in this coming Tuesday’s CIF-SS Division 5 semifinal round.
The Huskies rode the arms of Brody Buoncristiani and Andrew Baldomino to a 7-0 victory over their visitors from Montebello.
Buoncristiani went 5 1/3 scoreless innings and he allowed three hits.
Buoncristiani issued a pair of walks and struck out three Oilers’ batters.
Baldomino got the final five outs to extend the Huskies season for at least one more game.
Baldomino didn’t allow a hit or walk, and he struck out one.
Aaron Martinez and Aaron Vallejo had one double apiece for Montebello.
Gus Salazar walked and singled to account for the other MHS base hit.
Jeremy Vargas got the loss after allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and one walk over 4 2/3 innings.
Baldomino went 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs and one RBI.
Josh Mendez singled, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Cannon Billingsley had an RBI double.
Favian Vazquez singled, scored and had two RBIs.
Frankie Brazil singled, scored and drove in one.
Buoncristiani had an RBI base hit.
Jacob Jimenez and Jackson Gray had one single apiece in Friday’s win.
