Baseball:
Arcadia opened defense of its Pacific League championship this week with a two-game sweep of Burbank.
The Apaches defeated the Bulldogs, 11-3, on Wednesday, and closed out the sweep, 7-0, on Friday.
Fernando Palencia was dealing.
The Apaches star senior went five innings, allowed just two hits, didn’t issue a walk and got 13 of his 15 outs via strikeout.
Gus Cooper and Damian Catano provided one scoreless inning of relief.
Jake Reyes had a pair of singles, and Bryant Johnson doubled to account for the Burbank offense.
Robert Snyder was saddled with the loss after going 4 2/3 innings and allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits.
Snyder walked one and struck out seven AHS batters.
Avery Truesdale singled, scored three runs, and hit a two-run home run in the third inning.
Maverick Silva drew a pair of walks and his two-run double in the top of the second inning gave Arcadia a 2-0 lead.
Keyonn Chatman and Fernando Palencia walked, singled, scored and drove in a run apiece.
Jordan Vogel singled twice and scored.
Leo Peniche singled and scored.
Up next: Arcadia travels to Pasadena on Tuesday and they’ll host Damien on Thursday.
