College Baseball:
Mt. SAC opened South Coast Conference play with a 6-2 victory at East Los Angeles College.
The Mounties led 6-0 before ELAC scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Julian Hernandez got the loss, in spite of having a solid outing.
Hernandez went seven innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits.
Hernandez issues a pair of walks and struck out seven MSAC batters.
Ty Thomas went 2-for-5, including a two-run single in the top of the first inning.
Bryan Bradshaw walked, had an RBI triple, and he scored two runs from the leadoff spot.
Joel Gutierrez went 3-for-5 with a double and scored.
Nick Mejia had an RBI single and an RBI double.
Kaden Moeller walked, doubled and scored.
Daniel Briones singled and scored.
Joey Rossetti had a sac fly in the top of the ninth to extend the MSAC lead to 6-0.
Matthew Lorenzano went seven scoreless to earn the win.
Lorenzano scattered four hits, walked six and fanned four ELAC batters.
JR Kully doubled twice and scored.
Matias Nolasco singled, doubled and scored.
Up next: MSAC will host ELAC on Tuesday at 4.
