Boys Tennis:
Two days after a lopsided, 14-4 season-opening loss to Loyola, Claremont picked up win No. 1 of the 2024 season.
The Wolfpack claimed a 10-8 victory over Corona Santiago.
Claremont’s singles players went 7-2, and the doubles teams dropped six of their nine matches.
Caleb Settles, who plays No. 1 singles, went 3-0.
Settles won by scores of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1.
Mateen Ghafarshad also secured three team points with individual victories of 7-5, 6-1 and 6-0.
Josh Bonner went 1-2 from the No. 3 singles spot in the Claremont lineup.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Caleb Fong and Liad Geldwert earned two of the Wolfpack’s three team points in doubles.
Fong and Geldwert won their first two matches by scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
Up next: CHS (1-1) is scheduled to travel to San Dimas on Tuesday at 3:30.
