Boys Soccer:
And they’re off to the semifinals!
Maranatha continued its torrid play with a 4-2 victory over Kaiser in the quarterfinal round of the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs.
MHS trailed 1-0, and 2-1, but they would score the final three goals of the game to secure a semifinal showdown with Westminster.
As mentioned, the Cats led 1-0 until George Peterson was fouled in the box and evened the score at 1-1.
Trailing 2-1, as his coach (Walker Haynes) described it: “Caleb Freeman hits an absolute screamer top bins from 30 yards out,” and the Minutemen caught Kaiser again at 2-2.
Freeman and Luca Youssefian had second-half goals to pull away from Kaiser.
Peterson scored once and assisted on both second-half goals.
Freeman scored twice for the Minutemen.
Lorenzo five saves, including one on a penalty kick.
Up next: The Minutemen will host Westminster on Friday.
