Girls Athlete of the Week:
Sam Sachs didn’t just win the 125-pound title at the Dick Morris Tournament on Saturday.
The Glendora junior thoroughly dominated each of her five opponents.
Sachs went 6-0 with five pins.
And she did so in seconds.
Sachs’ first five wins were a result of pins, and the time of those falls were 0:42, 1:05, 0:37, 0:52 and 1:52, respectively.
In the title bout, Sachs defeated Ruby Julien-Newsom of Torrey Pines by a score of 13-4.
She was also named the tournament’s lower-weight MVP.
Sachs also secured her 100th career win at GHS, and she is 22-1 in 2023-24.

Second: Sachs pinned Liliana Centeno (Santiago) at 1:05.

Semifinal: Sachs pinned Mia Hooper (Northview) at 1:52.
