Girls Water Polo:
West Covina improved to 4-0 to start the 2023-24 season on Thursday.
But it didn’t come easily.
The Bulldogs edged Chino Hills, 7-6, in a match that saw three of the four quarters being decided by one goal or less.
WCHS took a 4-1 lead after the first period, but CHHS battled their butts off and nearly caught the Bulldogs.
Victoria Tu, Deneli Salazar and Vayda Saucedo scored two goals apiece for West Covina.
Kassidy Ly added a vital goal in Thursday’s win.
Sam Guerra had a solid effort in goal with eight saves.
Up next: WCHS will compete at this weekend’s Saddleback Tournament.
