Football:
St. Francis secured at least a share of the Angelus League championship on Friday night.
The Golden Knights picked up a 42-27 victory at Crespi, and they improved to 4-0 in league games.
With one week to play, SFHS holds a one-game lead over second-place Loyola, and the Golden Knights hold the tiebreaker thanks to a 26-21 victory over the Cubs four weeks ago.
Don’t let the score fool you, this game was never in doubt.
St. Francis led 42-13 in the third quarter and Crespi scored a pair of fourth-quarter TD’s.
John Sanders continues to shine during his rookie season at quarterback.
Sanders had TD runs of 25 and 7 yards.
He also threw a 4-yard TD pass to Preston Jernegan, and a 3-yard TD to Julian Navarro.
John Calmette had TD runs of 3 and 1 yard.
Crespi quarterback Masyn Harvey and Elijah Pendleton hooked up on TD strikes of 43, 30 and 23 yards, all of which came in the second half.
Up next: The Golden Knights travel to St. Paul in the 2023 regular season finale.
A win would secure an outright Angelus League championship and almost certainly a first-round home game in the CIF-SS playoffs.
