Football:
South Hills snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday night.
The Huskies thumped their visitors from El Monte, 49-17, at Covina District Field.
SHHS has now scored 49 points in both of their 2023 wins thus far.
And it could have been much worse, but the refs called three Huskies TD’s back on penalties.
Matt Moreno had a 65-yard rushing TD for an offense that totaled 366 yards on the ground.
Gary San Angelo opened the kickoff 90 yards for a score and scored another on a 40-yard run.
Tyler Casal had a 25-yard TD run for South Hills.
Landon Hansen added his name to the list, as he sprinted into the end zone from 65 yards out.
SHHS coach Jacob Calderon said that Ruben Mota was the defensive player of the game with six tackles, including one for loss, a forced fumble that he recovered.
Javion Boone’s second-quarter interception thwarted an El Monte drive.
Up next: The Huskies will take their bye week and then host Claremont on Friday, September 29th at 7.
The Wolfpack (0-5) fell to Alta Loma, 42-14, in a game of winless programs.
