Maranatha responded well to last week’s 19-point loss to West Valley.
On Friday, the Minutemen cruised to a 34-13 victory over visiting Garey.
MHS took a 28-0 lead into the half and never got challenged.
It also helped to get their most explosive athlete back in the lineup.
Miles O’Malley made his season debut and the Maranatha junior did not disappoint.
O’Malley produced 232 yards of total offense.
And he scored three TD’s.
O’Malley scored on TD runs of 51 and 67 yards.
He’d also bring a punt back 73 yards for another score.
O’Malley carried the ball six times for 152 yards.
Dejohn Jones gained 27 yards on three carries, and that included an 8-yard TD to extend the MHS lead to 28-0 in the second quarter.
Luke McNulty completed 6-of-9 passes for 92 yards and one TD.
Camden Jones had two catches for 59 yards and one TD.
Jacob Neely (14), Dejohn Jones (12), Carter Shupper (9) Santiago Garza (9) and Niko Vergara (9) combined for 53 tackles.
The MHS defense forced four fumbles.
Up next: The Minutemen travel to Corona on Thursday night.
The Panthers (2-0) edged Monte Vista, 30-27, on Friday night.
