South Hills started and finished strong in Tuesday’s 8-2 victory at Charter Oak in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs.
The Huskies got four runs on six hits over five innings against Chargers ace Anthony Vasquez.
Vasquez walked two and fanned six.
Chris Gonzalez surrendered four runs on four hits.
Gonzalez went two innings, didn’t issue a walk and registered two strikeouts.
Matt Moreno walked, singled, doubled and scored two runs.
Paul Vazquez had a single, run and two RBIs.
Noah Malone went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Steven Jimenez singled and drove in a pair.
Gabe Martinez singled, doubled and scored twice.
Marcos Rosales walked, singled, doubled, scored twice and had one RBI.
COHS got two runs (one earned) on three hits over 1 2/3 innings off Daniel Camou.
Camou walked two and struck out a pair of Chargers.
Joseph Moreno went 4 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings to earn the win.
Moreno walked three and fanned four.
Matt Moreno provided a scoreless inning in relief and struck out two.
Julian Salmon walked, singled and had an RBI.
Samuel Morales singled and scored.
Josiah Martinez singled, scored and had an RBI.
Diego Ortiz had the other Chargers base hit.
Up next: South Hills will host West Ranch on Friday.
The Wildcats (22-7) defeated visiting Tesoro, 6-3, on Tuesday.
