Baseball:
Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks finished the regular season as the No. 1 team in the final CIF-SS Division 1 poll.
And the Knights backed up that ranking on Tuesday.
They ended Bonita’s season, 5-3, in La Verne.
Notre Dame out-hit the Bearcats, 13-5, in the second round of the D-1 playoffs.
They also roughed up one of our area’s premier pitchers, Justin Santiago, for five runs on 11 hits.
The Bearcats ace went six innings, walked two and struck out four Knights batters.
Garrett Patterson went the seventh and got two of his three outs via strikeout.
Adam Shlesinger went 2-for-3 with a walk, run and two RBIs.
Kai Gonzaga singled twice, doubled and scored.
Levi Sterling went 4-for-4 with two doubles.
Dean West walked, singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice.
Madden Ocko had a single and an RBI.
Oliver Boone went five and allowed three runs on four hits.
He walked one and struck out five.
Erik Puodziunas provided two scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
Puodziunas didn’t issue a walk and got half of his six outs via strikeout.
BHS got all three of its runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Jared Brunk went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Tyler Holley singled and had two RBIs.
Diego Vazquez singled and scored.
Bryan Bradshaw walked and singled.
Colton Perez and Diego Villa scored one run each.
