Baseball:
Pasadena’s strong finish in Pacific League play carried over into the first round of the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs.
PHS cruised to a 10-0 victory at de Toledo in West Hills.
The Bulldogs and Jaguars were originally scheduled to play on Thursday, but with the prediction of impending rain, they got the game in on Wednesday.
Joe Bacon went five scoreless innings to earn the win.
Bacon scattered four hits, walked three and struck out six.
Adrian Oseguera got the final six outs to close out the shutout.
Oseguera allowed one hit, didn’t issue a walk and got half of his outs via strikeout.
Ryan Schenk had two of de Toledo’s five hits, while Jake Schultz, Jacob Wissot and Carter Bertisch had one singled apiece.
James Heller got the loss, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits over five innings.
Heller walked a pair and fanned six PHS batters.
Kaleb Derosier had a monster game, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and four RBIs.
Oseguera singled twice and scored.
Charlie Ream went 2-for-4 and scored.
Seldon Walker singled and scored.
Bacon had an RBI double.
Marcus Gonzalez walked, singled, scored and had an RBI.
Baylin Brooks contributed an RBI double.
Rene Salas walked, scored and had an RBI.
