Girls Athlete of the Week:
Glendora senior Bridget Nemeth put the Tartans program on her shoulders, as she’s done for most of 2023.
But in the last week-plus in particular, Nemeth has shown just how tough and durable she really is.
Nemeth went the distance in 8-0 and 3-1 victories over Claremont last Saturday.
She had to go nine innings to finish the sweep of the Wolfpack.
In those two wins, she struck out 24 CHS batters.
Fast forward to Tuesday, and Nemeth went eight scoreless innings before second-place Bonita scored three times (only two were earned) in the top of the ninth.
She walked two and struck out 10.
Without a doubt, the biggest win of the season came on Thursday.
GHS secured a 4-2, 10-inning victory at AHS.
It was the Bulldogs first loss in all of 2023.
Nemeth surrendered two runs on six hits.
She walked two and struck out 11 AHS batters.
In the two games she didn’t pitch, the Tartans went 0-2.
The Tartans will enter the postseason as the Palomares League’s No. 3 seed.
GHS will get its playoff opponent this morning at 10.
