College Baseball:
Chaffey earned the title of Inland Empire Athletic Conference champs on Tuesday.
The Panthers pounded Barstow, 24-8, and with three games to play, Chaffey holds on a four-game lead over second-place Mt. San Jacinto.
Chaffey and Barstow combined for 32 runs, 29 hits, 19 walks, three errors and 11 pitchers.
The Panthers scored four runs in the bottom of the first and second innings and were never challenged.
Barstow scored a TD in the top of the ninth but missed the extra point.
Tommie Davis got the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on four hits over one-plus inning.
Davis issued four walks and didn’t register a strikeout.
Twelve Chaffey batters had at least one hit and one RBI or more.
Clay Porter went 3-for-6, with a walk, double, triple, four runs and an RBI.
Zach Kim walked, singled, doubled, scored three runs and had one RBI.
Michael Woodward went 3-for-4 with two walks, a double, four runs and drove in four.
Jacob Billings drew three walks, singled, scored and had four RBIs.
Matthew Chavez hit a three-run HR, scored three times and drove in four.
Austin Easter walked twice, scored and had an RBI.
Eric Valdivia walked and had an RBI single.
Devin Martinez went 2-for-5, scored and had an RBI.
Aaron Whobrey walked twice, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Noah Nichols walked, scored and had an RBI triple.
Yahir Ramirez hit a three-run HR and scored a pair of runs.
David Loera singled twice and scored two runs.
Christian Mosqueda doubled and drove in two.
Brynden Rodriguez got the win, going five innings and allowing two runs on six hits.
Rodriguez walked two and registered seven strikeouts.
Dylan Runnels homered and drove in four runs for Barstow.
Kaden Duffy doubled and scored.
James Alvarez, Marcus Sanchez and Dawson Pitsor singled and scored one run apiece.
Justin Lamantia walked, singled and scored.
