Donovan Gonsal Collects Two Doubles & Three RBIs; Maranatha Defeats Excelsior Charter, 8-5, on Thursday

Maranatha baseball coach Matt Shupper was able to play most of his roster in Thursday’s 8-5 victory over Excelsior Charter.

After starting the season 0-1, the Minutemen are currently riding a six-game win streak.

Nate Creason got the loss after surrendering seven runs on nine hits over his 3 1/3 innings of work.

He walked four and struck out three MHS batters.

Donovan Gonsal walked, doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in three.

Ryan Mittelman singled, doubled and had two RBIs.

Adrian Lopez walked twice and scored and Ben Staub singled and scored.

Nick Sartor had an RBI double.

Justin Peters walked, singled and scored.

Kade Bowden walked twice and scored.

Isaac Ton singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run.

Davis Cornwell was credited with the win after three scoreless innings.

Cornwell allowed two hits, walked one and struck out four.

Up next: Maranatha will travel to Sun Valley to take on Village Christian on Tuesday in an Olympic League contest.
