Santiago Throws No-Hitter in Friday’s 2-0 Palomares League Victory Over Alta Loma & Patterson Quiets Braves Bats (6-1) on Saturday

The one-two punch on the mound of Justin Santiago and Garrett Patterson is one of the SGV area’s best tandems.

On Friday and Saturday, Bonita opened Palomares League play with 2-0 and 6-1 victories over Alta Loma, respectively.

Justin Santiago’s senior year just keeps getting better.

Santiago threw a no-hitter in Friday’s 2-0 victory.

He walked a pair and struck out eight.

Of his 82 pitches, Santiago threw 54 strikes.

Santiago was just two walks (Seth Reker & Dominic Paris) away from a perfect game.

He improved to 5-0 and Santiago has surrendered just one earned run in 40 innings.

Moeses Baron got the loss after allowing two runs on five hits over five innings.

He walked one and fanned three BHS batters.

Bryan Bradshaw singled, doubled, scored and drove in one run.

Colton Perez doubled and scored.

Diego Vazquez had two of the Bearcats’ seven hits.

Garrett Patterson and Jared Brunk had one single apiece.

Saturday:

Garrett Patterson went five innings to earn the win.

Patterson allowed one run on five hits.

He walked two and fanned eight Braves’ batters.

Camden Farina provided two scoreless innings of relief and struck out four to close out the victory.

Seth Reker singled twice and had an RBI.

Moeses Baron went 2-for-3.

David Jimenez walked and scored.

Dominic Paris was saddled with the loss.

Paris surrendered five runs on eight hits over four innings.

He walked three and didn’t strike anyone out.

Diego Vazquez singled, homered, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Tyler Holley singled twice, doubled, and had two RBIs.

Andrew Alva singled twice and scored.

Colton Perez singled and drove in a run.

Bryan Bradshaw singled, had an RBI and scored twice.

Spencer Savage singled twice and scored.

Up next: Weather permitting, first-place Bonita travels to first-place Ayala on Tuesday at 3:30.

The Bulldogs (5-4, 2-0) defeated Colony, 10-0, and 13-1, on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
