Baseball:
Charter Oak used seven pitchers on Saturday who combined on a four-hit shutout over visiting Chino Hills.
The Chargers got three runs in the bottom of the third and one more in the fourth in a 4-0 victory over the Huskies.
Perry Johnson got the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks.
Johnson fanned a pair of batters in three innings of work.
Diego Ortiz walked, singled, doubled, scored and drove in a win.
Athen Malone doubled, scored and had an RBI.
Samuel Morales singled and scored.
Anthony Vasquez singled, drove in a run and scored one run.
Josiah Martinez went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Daniel Hirota walked and singled, and Christopher Gonzalez singled in Saturday’s win.
COHS got one inning scoreless inning apiece from Diego Ortiz, Athen Malone, Andres Ortiz, Jacob Gonzalez, Christopher Gonzalez, Anthony Vasquez and Mark Lopez.
Vasquez had two of the staffs’ four strikeouts.
Chino Hills got singles from Frankie Brazil, Tyler Cristiano, Luc Dowling and Tyler Stull.
Up next: COHS travels to Covina on Tuesday (weather permitting) in the Valle Vista League opener for both programs.
CHHS travels to Damien on Monday in a Baseline League contest.
