Baseball:

Charter Oak doubled its win total in less than 24 hours.

The Chargers started the weekend 2-2, but defeated Ayala (9-8) on Friday and Santa Fe (4-0) on Saturday.

Anthony Vasquez kept the Chiefs’ bats silent all day.

Vasquez tossed a one-hit shutout, issued just one walk and struck out 10.

He needed just 77 pitches to earn the win.

A Jordan Jimenez single was all that stood between Vasquez and a perfect game.

Derek Leader got the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits over his five innings.

He walked two and struck out six.

Samuel Morales singled and scored.

Diego Ortiz singled twice and drove in a run.

Julian Salmon singled and scored for COHS.

Ezekial Escalera and Josiah Martinez had one single each.

Vasquez helped his own cause by walking and scoring one run.

Up next: COHS will travel to La Habra on Wednesday afternoon at 3.
