Boys Basketball:
Damien earned a spot in Saturday’s Cal High Tournament championship.
The Spartans exploded for 31 second-quarter points and defeated Corona del Mar, 72-49, on Friday evening.
Eli Garner (21) and Xavier Clinton (20) combined to score 41 points and had five of Damien’s nine 3-pointers.
Nate Garcia finished with seven points, and Caiden Brown and Elijah Brown contributed five points apiece.
Jackson Harlan led CDM with 11 points and Kaleb Arnett chipped in with 10 for the Sea Kings.
Up next: The Spartans will play for the Cal High Tourney title tonight against Friday night’s Huntington Beach-Fountain Valley winner.
