Girls Basketball:
Glendora actually outscored undefeated Orangewood Academy in quarters one, three and four on Saturday night.
Unfortunately for GHS, a 20-10 second-quarter surge by the Spartans was just enough to edge the Tartans, 59-56, in the San Marino Tournament championship game.
Maria Mejia had a game-high 23 points for Orangewood Academy.
The Tartans got 15 points from Rylie Anderson and Hailey Schaffer contributed 10 points, as both earned all-tournament honors.
Brianna Gomez chipped in with nine points and Reagan Herrmann had seven in the loss.
Up next: The Tartans will travel to California High on Wednesday at 6.
Quotable:
GHS coach, Adam Nunemaker: “As always, we worked as hard as we could and showed a lot of heart after being down double digits. This is one of hardest working and most fun teams I’ve ever been around. It’s a blessing to be a part of this special group.”
