Football:
Northview, the reigning CIF-SS Division 10 champions, cruised to another Valle Vista League championship on Friday night.
The Vikings thumped San Dimas, 34-6, at Covina District Field.
NHS scored the game’s first 34 points before San Dimas got on the board in the fourth quarter.
Perhaps no stat illustrates the convincing victory quite like Northview’s 456-249 advantage in total offense.
Angel Barraza rushed for 106 yards on 11 carries and that included TD runs of 4 and 20 yards.
Keanu Tauvao had a game-high 141 yards and did so on 14 carries.
Tauvao’s 5-yard TD run gave NHS a 21-0, first-quarter lead.
James Arellanes completed 8-of-14 for 196, and the Vikings quarterback connected with Nathan Tome on a 45-yard TD.
Arellanes also had a 1-yard TD run.
Donovan Perez (two catches for 82 yards), Nathan Tome (2 for 59), Dylan Ochoa (2 for 40) and Dwayne Thompson (2 for 15) led the NHS receiving corps.
As mentioned, SDHS got on the board in the fourth quarter.
It was an 18-yard TD pass from Jacob Gonzalez to Carlos Alvarez.
Gonzalez finished the night 6-of-15 for 61 yards.
Brian Freeland led the Saints ground game with 132 yards on 18 carries.
Northview’s run to a VVL championship includes a 104-26 advantage in points scored and allowed over SDHS, Diamond Ranch and Los Altos.
NHS will enter the playoffs with twice as many regular wins (8) as they did in 2021 before going on that magical postseason ride.
