Football:
The idea of spending your Friday night in a car ride home from Bakersfield wouldn’t sound appealing to most teenage boys.
For the La Salle football program, though, the 121-mile trek back to campus was a breeze.
The Lancers overcame a 14-point deficit and cruised past East Bakersfield High. 41-21, to even their season record at 3-3.
David Mysza had a monster game in leading the La Salle offense.
The Lancers junior threw six TD passes and added a 2-point conversion to his resume.
Mysza hit Aiden Leyland on TD passes of 10, 30 and 9 yards.
And Mauricio Pavon would have scoring receptions of 30, 40 and 7 yards.
Mysza finished with 345 yards through the air.
Leyland (130 yards) and Pavon (146) combined for 276 receiving yards.
Daniel Arroyas had 50 yards receiving and picked off a pair of East Bakersfield passes.
Up next: The Lancers host St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy this Thursday in the Del Rey League opener.
The Warriors (4-1) had a bye this past week.

Quotable:
La Salle quarterback, David Mysza: “The trip to Bakersfield was fun. I think our team played excellent, coming back from an early 14-0 deficit. We could’ve folded, but the offense and defense picked it up and we ended up coming up with a good win to finish the first half of the season. I think we had success because of us taking advantage of our matchups with our receivers and our preparation this whole week.”
Del Rey League Standings:
St. Pius (4-1 overall, 0-0 in league)
Harvard Westlake (3-2, 0-0)
La Salle (3-3, 0-0)
St. Anthony (2-3, 0-0)
St. Genevieve (1-4, 0-0)
