The Inland Valley Pirates got seven scoreless innings from Zac Czerniawski in Wednesday’s 6-2 victory over the Arroyo Seco Sentinels in the first round of the Best of the West League playoffs.
Czerniawski allowed four hits, walked two and fanned six Sentinels’ batters.
Antonio Andrade walked, singled and had both Seco RBIs.
Jason Givens doubled and scored.
Taer Rodriguez singled twice.
Jesse Espinoza, Tommy Castillo and Mikey Easter had one single each.
Joe Jimenez got the loss, allowing four runs on four hits in five innings of work.
He walked two and struck out a pair of IVP batters.
The Pirates got two more runs off Logan Hunt on five hits and four walks.
Anthony McFarland singled and hit a two-run HR.
Conner McKinney went 2-for-4, including a two-run blast.
Anthony Gibbons walked, singled twice, scored and had one RBI.
Gabriel Rico singled and scored.
Kyle Dobson walked, singled and scored.
Dominic Martinez singled and Bradley Chesterton walked and scored.
Up next: The Pirates will face the VC Pirates-So Cal Shepherds winner on Thursday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona.
