In a game that featured a combined 20 runs, 21 hits, five errors and seven pitchers, the So Cal Shepherds outlasted the Inland Valley Bucs, 12-8, in Thursday’s Best of the West League slugfest.
SCS actually trailed 6-1 after two innings, but they got two runs in the top of the third inning, seven in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Charlie Pierce earned the win, going five innings and allowing two runs on four hits.
Pierce walked three and struck out eight IVB batters.
Nin Burns singled, homered and drove in three runs.
Dante Catalino walked, singled, doubled and scored twice.
Bobby Hook singled, doubled and scored.
Melchor Flores and Chase Siffert singled, scored and had one RBI apiece.
Nate Shaman singled and scored.
Cole Smith had an RBI double.
Joshua Morago was saddled with the loss.
Morago went two innings and allowed seven runs (five earned) on five hits.
Alex Laureano homered and had two RBIs.
Drew Salyers went 4-for-5, with a double and two runs.
Brenden Coffindaffer walked, singled, had two doubles, scored and drove in a game-high four runs.
