High School Baseball:

It’s early, but the Bonita baseball program has already picked up a ‘character’ win.

The Bearcats were trailing by two runs in the top of the seventh inning some 44 miles from home.

But they rallied to send it to extra innings, thanks to a solo home run by Ryan Kozma to tie the game at 4-4.

Five innings later, Bonita would defeat El Toro, 5-4, in 12 innings after Jordan Sheridan got hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded.

Luke Mistone went the first five innings for Bonita without allowing a run.

He surrendered just three hits, walked one and struck out nine.

Seth Wrightstone mowed down the Chargers in the 11th & 12th innings to pick up the win.

He walked one and struck out three, without allowing a base hit.

Zack DenDekker walked, doubled twice, scored and had one RBI.

JT Priest went 2-for-4, with a run in the loss.

Colin Zerfass singled twice, drove in a pair of runs and scored a run.

Johnny Claycomb got the loss for El Toro after allowing a 12th-inning run.

Ryan Kozma was having a so-so game until the seventh inning, having walked once.

But as mentioned above, he tied the game with a solo shot down 4-3, and then led off the 12th inning by drawing a base on balls.

When Jordan Sheridan got hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, Kozma scored what turned out to be the game-winning run.

JT Fenton had a big game.

He walked twice, singled, homered, scored twice and drove in two runs.

Mistone singled twice.

Logan Corthell walked twice and had an RBI single.

Gavin Vazquez singled and scored.

The Chargers pitching staff walked 11 batters on Tuesday.
