Damien will head into the playoffs with some legit momentum on their side.
The Spartans defeated visiting Rancho Cucamonga, 1-0, in nine innings, which secured a three-game sweep of the Cougars.
Damien has won seven of their last nine games and the Spartans finished second in the Baseline League.
Dakota Gray went seven scoreless innings for RCHS.
Gray scattered five hits, walked one and struck out 11 Damien batters.
Drew Copelan got the loss after surrendering the game’s lone run in the bottom of the ninth.
Copelan went 2/3 of an inning, allowing an unearned run on two hits and a walk.
Nikko Paoletto’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth scored Julian Hines for the walk-off victory.
Justin Dunn had a pair of singles in Friday’s win, and Ryan Mullan singled.
Luke Silvestro and Dominic Gomez had one double each, while Nathan Hellein tallied a pair of doubles for the Spartans.
Austin Lopez and Gavin Eddy combined on a six-hit, nine-inning shutout.
Lopez went five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out one.
Eddy surrendered three hits over four innings and fanned six RCHS batters.
Noel Cesena singled and doubled for the Cougars.
Joshua Almeda, Tate Shimao and Ruben Jurado had one single apiece to account for the Rancho Cucamonga offense.
