Casey Spencer Earns First Victory at Arcadia; Former La Salle Pitcher Went Six Innings, Apaches Defeat Chino Hills, 5-4, on Monday

Mar 23 2021 03:32:13

In his second outing of 2021, Casey Spencer picked up his first win on the mound for Arcadia High School.

The former La Salle star went six innings and allowed four runs on four hits.

To be fair to Spencer, though, Coach Nick Lemas, said he would have won at California in the season opener, but they pulled him early after amassing a sizeable lead.

He walked three, fanned six Huskies’ batters, and the Apaches claimed a 5-4 victory.

Arcadia actually scored seven runs, but in the top of the seventh, after scoring a pair of runs, the sprinklers came on and because they didn’t finish the top or bottom halves of the seventh, by rule, they reverted back to the score at the end of six.

So, the official score was 5-4.

Cole Nachreiner walked and hit a three-run blast in the bottom of the fourth inning to get Chino Hills even with Arcadia at 4-4.

But the Apaches got one in the sixth and two more in the seventh (that didn’t count) and they improved to 3-0.

Jason Houlihan was stuck with the loss.

Houlihan went 1 2/3, innings, allowing two runs on three hits.

Mikey Easter went 3-for-5 at the plate, with three singles, an RBI and two runs scored.

Daniel Chavez singled twice and drove in three runs.

Brandon Nguyen walked three times, singled and scored.

Lance Wong and Alex Dolan singled and scored

Zach Huerta singled and scored a pair of runs in the win.

Up next: The Apaches will host Bishop Amat on Friday afternoon.
