Baseball:
What a way to go out for Travis Delgado.
In his final regular season game at Marshall Fundamental, Delgado went five scoreless innings in a 10-0 victory over visiting Mountain View.
He allowed one hit, didn’t issue a walk and struck out seven.
But that’s only the half of it.
Delgado also singled, hit a two-run home run, scored twice and drove in a game-high five RBIs.
Thursday’s win also secured another Mission Valley League championship.
And while Marshall and Arroyo are tied for first, the Eagles have the tiebreaker thanks to their two-game sweep of the Knights.
Mountain View’s Marco Aguilar got the loss, allowing nine runs (seven earned) on eight hits.
Aguilar walked six and fanned two Marshall batters.
Wes Pendleton singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Nick Chew doubled, scored a pair of runs and drove in two.
Andrew Quijada doubled and scored.
Devan Kelly went 2-for-4 and scored one run.
Conrad Hunziker singled and scored twice.
Jacob Hernandez scored two runs in Thursday’s win.
Up next: Marshall will get its first-round opponent in the CIF-SS playoff on Monday.
