Damien Bats Open 2021 Season on Fire; Spartans Defeat Claremont, 14-3, After Collecting 17 Hits Off Six Wolfpack Pitchers

Apparently the Damien bats weren’t rusty, despite not having played in over a year.

The Spartans pounded Claremont pitching for 17 hits in Friday’s 14-3 victory.

Gavin Eddy got the loss after allowing nine runs on eight hits over his 3 1/3 innings of work.

He walked two and fanned three Spartans’ batters.

The first three batters in the Damien lineup (Ivan Aguirre, Alec Beck and Kaden Moeller) went a combined 8-for-11, with seven runs and six RBIs.

Aguirre went 3-for 4, including two singles, a double, three runs scored and an RBI.

Beck had a pair of singles, two runs and an RBI.

Moeller went 3-for-3, with a walk, two singles, a double, four RBIs and he scored two runs.

Christian Grino singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in two more.

Tyler Daley went 2-for-3, with a single, double and three RBIs.

Jason Armendarez contributed a single and two RBIs, and Dane Flashberg collected a pair of hits and he scored once for the Spartans.

Seth Sumner was credited with the victory after going the third, fourth and fifth innings, and allowing one run on three hits.

Elvis Weeks singled and drove in two runs for the Wolfpack.

Kenny Wang went 2-for-3, with a walk, RBI and run scored.

Zayne Farah and Jacob Klinovsky both singled and scored in the loss.
